Mr. Weatherbee tells us how Archie came to have a strange attachment to an old, mean wolf at the zoo. In flashback, Archie goes up to Mr. Lodge's North Woods retreat to do a report on wolves, and goes flying over the forest with Mr. Lodge. When the plane crash-lands and Archie is knocked out, Mr. Lodge goes to get help, but while he's alone in the stranded plane, Archie is almost trampled by a stampede of caribou.
