Jo, April, Mal, Molly, and Ripley -- the residents of Camp Lumberjane's of Roanoke cabin -- sneak out of their cabin at night to explore the woods. They are attacked by a pack of three-eyed foxes who disappear in puffs of smoke upon being defeated, but leave a message: Beware the Kittens Holy. They also encounter a mysterious Bear Woman. Returning to their cabin, they are discovered by their counselor, Jen, who takes them to Rosie, the headmaster. Rosie advises the girls to be cautious and observant, as they are likely to encounter more strange things over the summer.; Having fallen into an underground temple, the girls must proceed forward and overcome a number of challenges in order to find an exit.; The girls encounter a yeti in the woods, then, with Jen, a troop of friendly scout boys from a neighboring camp. Sneaking away, they visit a nearby lighthouse guarded by a yeti tribe, and find a mysterious bow and arrow, which Molly takes. Back at the boys camp, the boys are possessed and try to grab Jen, who escapes and encounters the returning girls. Together, they escape into the woods, and Jen accepts that the girls have really been telling the truth about the strange things they've been encountering.; The camp is attacked by three-eyed velociraptors. The bear lady returns to help save the girls, then confronts Jo, implying she's not who she says she is. Meanwhile, Diane, a Lumberjane who is not one of the Roanoke cabin girls, is revealed to be something more than she appears.; A game of capture the flag becomes more than it seems when Diana confronts the Lumberjanes and reveals that the bow Molly claimed previously is actually hers, and accuses the Lumberjanes of being agents of Apollo. The Lumberjanes return the bow and agree to help Diana if she agrees to tell them what's going on. Jen wants in on the action.; Diana reveals she is really Artemis, the Greek goddess, and that the three-eyed monsters they've encountered are agents of Apollo. Apollo has been using the creatures to spy on Diana and trick the Lumberjanes into helping him to solve clues relating to a challenge. The girls, Jen, and Diana follow clues to the temple cave the girls found earlier, where the girls reveal they've already solved many of the challenges. Diana talks Jo into solving a final challenge to save her friends, and when she does Jo is turned to stone.; Jen and the Molly work out clues to mislead Apollo and Artemis and rescue Jo. They arrive back at the camp in time to thwart Apollo and Artemis.; Selected panels from the previous stories, as though they were photos taped onto a page of the Field Manual.
