Richie imagines that he and Gloria grow up to marry and have a son much like himself. He envisions a son who would be very pampered and who cringes at the thought of getting dirty or infected by germs. Not liking this mental picture, he then refuses to comb his hair and starts to play in the mud, after which he is immediately sent to take a bath. While in the tub, he resolves that any son of his will not get all the "fuss and attention" that he gets himself.; Mr. Rich hires a new estate guard who has a reputation for noticing minor details and Richie decides to test his abilities.; Lotta rushes out the door in the morning so that she is not late for school, but ends up arriving after the morning bell. Rather than face the penalty, she decides to "play hookey", and spends the entire day guiltily hiding from everyone she sees. As it turns out, she needn't have been so cautious.; When Dot gets sick, she sees dots before her eyes which seem to lead her to find things that are lost.; Richie receives a gold-plated see-saw.; Lotta's display of strength contradicts what a health lecturer says about eating too much.; Lotta gives Dot an old cannon ball.; Tommy thinks that drinking coffee would be much better than drinking milk.
