Old McAllister is a sick man. After three years of panning, he has struck a rich vein of gold. On his way to Dawson City with the map and a letter to his family, he is found dead by two ne'er-do-wells. They steal his map and will try to locate the mine.; Young Tom has been doped by Joe Hammer, and has signed the deed to his mining claim without remembering it.; Jimmy has to sell his dog to get fare money to California for his sick mother.
