Kyon gets a call from an old middle school acquaintance asking Kyon to hook him up with Yuki. When Haruhi finds the note Kyon passed along, she assumes that Kyon is after Yuki.; At Haruhi's insistence, Kyon invites the S.O.S. Brigade to watch the football game where Kyon's friend is supposed to meet Yuki. But the friend gets severely injured during the game before he and Yuki can meet.; When Kyon's friend suddenly changes his feelings about Yuki, Kyon suspects his feelings were artificially altered.; Tsuruya invites the S.O.S. Brigade to a winter vacation at the family mountain lodge. But on a cross-country ski excursion, Haruhi manages to get everyone lost.; The S.O.S. Brigade stumble onto an empty mansion in the mountains where the flow of time varies from room to room and all contact with the outside world is cut off.
