OPEN ORDER SELECTIONS
AVENGERS TWILIGHT #5 ALEX ROSS COVER | MARVEL
The only thing I don't love about this comic book is that it is the second-to-last issue of this mini-series. As we expected after reading the last issue, this issue marks the first full appearance of the Red Skull armor. Some of us speculated that it was none other than Ultron who engineered it; it is revealed that he indeed did. We also get the introduction of the Hulk. Also worth noting that this makes the first cover appearance of the new Hawkeye. A character I can see being revisited after this series, but who knows? Everything points to the last issue being an epic conclusion. I think Marvel will be selling a ton of this storyline in trade paperbacks for ages. If Chip Zdarsky and Daniel Acuna nail this ending, and they will, we are witnessing the birth of a modern-day classic. I can see every single issue holding decent aftermarket value in the future!

This series has been great, but this issue, in particular, was delayed for quite a while. It was worth the wait because Jason Aaron and Doug Mahnke introduced several new characters in this series and introduced the coolest one yet. Enter the Thanagarian. I think if you're a fan of cool bounty hunter types, this one is a must-pickup!

I hesitated to call The Hood hosting the Spirit of Vengeance the new Ghost Rider, but that's exactly how Marvel has been referring to him. The last issue introduced us to this new Ghost Rider for just one page - a clear cameo introduction. This issue not only features a full in-story appearance but also marks his first cover appearance. When it comes to this mash-up version of the Ghost Rider, it would not surprise me if this was the book when the dust settles. At a $3.99 cover price, with a great cover appearance, full in-story appearance, and great story, I think this may represent the best value this week!

GIANT-SIZE HULK #1 MAIN COVER | MARVEL
We are on a roll this week with another book with a first full appearance, and we aren't done yet. This one features the first full appearance of Patchwork Jack, a new Hulk villain. These Giant-Size one-shots continue bringing new introductions and a heavy-duty cover price. So far, every single one of them has been worth picking up, and this is no exception. I love what Phillip Kennedy Johnson has done with the latest Hulk run, and this book is an extension of that. If you've been enjoying it, you can't go wrong picking up a copy of this one!

ROXXON PRESENTS THOR #1 MAIN COVER | MARVEL
Yet another first full appearance. We were unsure if Roxxon Thor would debut in this book or the last issue of Immortal Thor. It was a tough call because there were signs it could be either. Well, it turns out we got a brief cameo in Immortal Thor, and he was revealed, kind of. There was a character holding up a copy of this issue. Talk about breaking the fourth wall. That being said, this issue marks the first full appearance of Chad Hammer, AKA Roxxon Thor. It looks like Al Ewing is having a lot of fun with this character, so I don't think this is the last we will see of him!

SPIDER-WOMAN #6 MAIN COVER | MARVEL
I wish I could tell you that this book featured the first appearance of the New Champions Captain America and Wasp female mashup character that we saw on the Captain America #2 New Champions Variant, but I can't. What I can tell you is that it features her third cameo appearance. We saw her in the last installment of Timeless, then again in Web of Spider-Man, and now on the last page of this issue. We still don't know this character's name. What we do know is that the team she will be a part of and likely will be leading is the Assembly. We also know that she is featured on the cover of the next issue. That will mark her second cover appearance and hopefully her first full in-story appearance. This issue does have a cameo, and it is the first mention of the Assembly, so it is still worth grabbing!

ULTIMATE BLACK PANTHER #3 MAIN COVER | MARVEL
This is the question we all must ask ourselves. Do we care about the first appearance or introduction of an Earth-6160 character with an Earth-616 counterpart? I do. The reason for that is best depicted with none other than Reed Richards. Earth-6160 Reed Richards is Doctor Doom, and Earth-1610 Reed Richards is The Maker. The point being is that these characters may differ vastly from the ones we know and love.
That brings us to this issue and the first full appearance of Earth-6160 Storm. Who knows what the future will hold for this version of Storm? One thing we do know is that she has had previous cameos and cover appearances before this issue. I think those books have the potential to be the books that people look for when it comes to this version of Storm. Either way, this is a great series, and the fact we get a first full appearance makes this issue all the more worthwhile!

COVER SELECTIONS
These Daniel Acuna covers have been underappreciated. Something about an interior artist doing cover art feels right. This is his best cover yet, and although it's not easy to compete with Alex Ross, I think it's arguable this may be the better cover for this issue. Also, this is tied for the new Hawkeye's first appearance. If you only want one copy, Acuna gave you something to think about this week!

I have a soft spot for Luana Vecchio's work ever since Lovesick. I love her work, and I am looking forward to her upcoming mini-series. For the time being, we get to enjoy covers like this one and the variants she has been putting out for Dark Ride. As far as open-order covers for this book go, this one is hard to resist for me!

Whenever a Penthouse Comics issue has a limited variant, you may want to put in a preorder or two. The first issue had a limited variant, and it quickly shot up to $20 to $40 on eBay. This one is already following that pattern!

I have been eagerly waiting to get my hands on this one since it was revealed a couple of months ago. Bosslogic has been doing an incredible job with these Ultimate Special Variants, and this may be the best one yet. He isn't done either. I had an exchange with him in his Instagram comments, and he seemed to imply that we would get a cover featuring an aquatic character. At least, that is how I understood it. Earth-6160 Namor, anyone?

INCENTIVE SELECTIONS
We see this time and again. One of those Marvel or DC Comics titles that not too many smaller shops order 25 copies of, with an issue that has a great looking 1:25 by a great artist. Every time, we see the same thing. The book has a short supply on release and sells for double the ratio price or more on eBay. Copies that are listed for $20 to $30 get snatched up immediately. That's the pattern here. If you can buy one for ratio and enjoy the cover, go for it!

Once again, Doaly is killing the cover art of a pretty important 1:25 incentive variant. This one features or is tied with the Main Cover for the first cover appearance of The Hood as Ghost Rider. Although this one hasn't really taken off yet, it does have some upside — especially if you can land a copy for $20 or less!

It's no surprise that this one is selling well over the ratio price. The cover price is double the price of a typical comic book, and it features cover art by Sozomaika, an artist with a huge following. It's not my favorite Sozomaika cover, but it's not bad, either. Currently, it is selling for between $20 and $30 on eBay. It will be interesting to see where it ends up when the dust settles!

I don't have a copy of this one, although I wish I did. I love Tula Lotay's art, but this is an NSFW (not safe for work) cover, so it has not been revealed anywhere except to my knowledge. With this being the high ratio for a high cover price book, again, it is no shock to see it selling steadily between $40 and $50 on eBay. Another one that is well worth the ratio price if you have a box that you can store it in!

This is a whacky Thor one-shot, but there is another whacky about this Adi Granov Thor depiction. It looks great with or without the trade dress, but this one in particular has people willing to pay top dollar. Perhaps there aren't many circulating just yet; who knows? Currently, listings on eBay are closer to $100 than the ratio price!

Second printing incentives are usually safe from market flooding the supply because artists and retailers don't have enough time to put together an Exclusive Variant for them. Like so many other second-print incentives, this one is doing fairly well. A couple of copies have sold on eBay for $50 leading up to release!

This is a cool-looking cover, and like the first incentive selection this week (Captain Marvel), it meets a lot of the same criteria. The difference with this one is there was a lot of hype and speculation regarding what first appearances we may get in this issue. Turns out we got a third cameo appearance and the first mention of a new team. As a result, we are seeing steady sales between $40 and $50 on eBay!

Finally, we have an Ultimate Universe issue with a second printing virgin incentive. These have been doing pretty well on release, and this one is no exception. The last sale of this one was for almost $60 on eBay. If you have to have this because you are working on a set, it may pay off to be patient!

LATER PRINT SELECTIONS
People have been wanting to read this because of all the positive word of mouth, but there have not been enough copies to go around. They all quickly sell out on release. Readership is what later printings like this are all about, but when they go underordered, they may end up being rarer than other printings and even worth more when the dust settles. I love this series so much that I will keep buying it as long as they keep printing it!

It's the same deal with this as the last entry. I am hoping that every single issue gets a third printing like this so we can make a set with the two-color trade dress. Either way, I am picking this up!

This third printing, featuring an all-new May Parker cover depiction by Peach Momoko, snuck in very close to FOC and has no incentives attached. These are the types of second printings that get my attention: new cover, late announcements, and no incentives!

It's the same principle as the last entry here. New cover, late announcements, and no incentives. The main difference is that this is a splash page from the interior as opposed to all-new art. The first printing of this book was a bit sluggish because some major shops ordered quite a few copies. If you see the potential in this Jane Howlett character as much as I do, this one should be a must-pickup!

That's it for this week, folks! I think that is enough. It is pretty wild to think that just picking a single copy of the open-order books on this list can end up costing over $100. Remember, just because a comic is featured in these selections, it doesn't mean you need to buy it. Be selective and buy what interests you and what you think has the most upside. Happy hunting!
