[SPOILER WARNING] Know before you go! There are not too many selections this week, but the ones we do have are potent. We have the final issue of a modern-day classic, a Spoiler Variant, which we will reveal in our cover selections section. Of course, there are some great covers worth considering. Plenty to cover; let’s get into it!

OPEN ORDER SELECTIONS
AVENGERS TWILIGHT #6 ALEX ROSS COVER | MARVEL
I thoroughly enjoyed every page of every issue of this series, but the entire time, I dreaded that it would end with this sixth issue. The best outcome fans of this series, like me, could hope for was an open-ended finale that leaves the door open for Chip Zdarsky and Daniel Acuna to revisit this world. I won't spoil too much, but that is exactly what we get. If you haven't checked out this series yet, do yourself a favor and dive right into it!

How do you feel about characters who first appeared in movies or shows making their first appearances (later) in comic books? Seems we have been getting a lot of that lately. I think any way you look at it, this is a good one. This version of Spider-Woman was awesome in the movie, and I welcome seeing her make her way to comics and how she interacts with other Marvel characters!

I am so sorry, this one book is on this list three times, including two cover selections. As far as why the Main Cover made this list, the answer is pretty simple. A team of new characters is introduced in this issue called the Hellfire Warriors, and they do not appear on any of the other covers. Their first cover appearance is the Main Cover of the second issue. Often, when characters first appear in a book, the market looks to the Main Cover. Because of that, I think this may be worth considering!

This series continues to deliver pleasant and fun surprises. This time, we see Spider-Boy's arch nemesis and creator, Madame Monstrosity, transform into an actual Monstrosity. Plenty of people have been thumbing their noses at Spider-Boy pretty much since his first appearance broke the cover price, and that is fine by me. I am someone who ordered my copies of his first appearance before they broke cover, and not because I expected it to reach $40 or $50, but because I believe in this character's potential long term. Having a lot of people lose interest means that these books with key events or appearances are likely getting lower print runs. If this character ever lives up to his potential long-term, that should be a good thing for issues like this!

I don't want to spoil too much about this issue because it is such a good read. I will tell you this: It is not a major key or anything like that, even though it does introduce a bunch of interesting new characters. The reason this book is in this article is the sheer cunning brutality that makes Darth Maul such a wicked character. So far, we are two for two with this series. I hope we get more of the same in the third issue!

How many people out there are still pretending that Earth-6160 versions of characters aren't different characters? To those people, I say, read this book. Is that the Otto Octavius you know? How about Gwen Stacy? Is that how you remember her? I don't know where Jonathan Hickman is going with these two characters or any of the others he has introduced so far in the new Ultimate Universe. However, I do know that with every issue, they continue to differentiate themselves from their Earth-616 counterparts. To me, that makes picking up first appearances like this one a must!

COVER SELECTIONS
I love that DC Comics has Leirix Li doing open-order variants for Harley Quinn. And I love it even more because the two I have seen thus far feature Harley Quinn in her original (and my favorite) costume. I will pick these up as long as DC keeps putting them out!

Behold the talk of the town! At FOC, I was pretty confident that this Spoiler Variant by Joshua Cassara would feature the all-new Hellfire Warriors team. I was wrong. And I could not be more pleased to have been wrong because this depiction of Daken as Hellverine is absolute fire. It looks like Ben Percy killed him off during the Sabretooth War with a plan in mind. Bring him back as the Hellverine!

HELLVERINE #1 SKOTTIE YOUNG VARIANT | MARVEL
I know, I know, the same book twice in the cover selections section and three times in this article is a lot. But can you pass up a Skottie Young Hellverine cover? Especially after seeing how strong his similar-looking Ghost Rider #1 variant has been doing since its release. I think this will be a variant Skottie Young fans will not be able to get enough of for years to come!

There are so many of these Black Costume Anniversary Variants that it is hard to decide which of them to buy. If you're like me and not a completionist, the answer is simple in this particular case. Buy the ones that feature Spider-related characters; they look great. This black and white cover by David Baldeon checks both those boxes!

INCENTIVE SELECTIONS

STAR WARS: DARTH MAUL BLACK, WHITE AND RED #2 GABRIELE DELL'OTTO 1:100 INCENTIVE VIRGIN VARIANT | MARVEL
Keep a couple of things in mind with this selection. First of all, I am a huge Darth Maul fan and a huge Dell'Otto fan. This is a 1:100 incentive for a second issue of a mini-series that I don't think many shops are ordering stacks of. When you have a Star Wars book that likely wasn't heavily ordered featuring a great character by a great artist, you can bet it will likely do pretty well on release. This one looks on pace to do just that with one sale for $120 on eBay and current listings in the $170 range. I would love a copy of this one, but that is a bit rich for me. I think it may be worth it if you're a big fan and can score one close or below ratio!

This is a stunning cover depiction by a great artist who makes their first comic book appearance in this book. It is also the highest ratio for this book. To top it all off, it's Spide-related. A new Spider-Woman who has already been in a movie and will likely be in the sequel. That's a pretty perfect recipe for a trending incentive. As a result, this one has sales holding steady at $70 on eBay. That's well over the ratio price. I think if you can score one closer to $50, consider yourself lucky at this point!

That's it for this week, folks! Hope those of you who had time off this past weekend enjoyed and took time to recharge. You will need that extra energy to scramble on over to your favorite shop and pick up some of these awesome selections. Happy hunting!
