Initially, Lex Luthor and Superboy are firm friends. However, when one of Lex's experiments fails, causing him to lose his hair, he blames the Boy of Steel.; Superboy is split into himself and Clark Kent by a Martian ray using Red Kryptonite. The Clark personna attempts to kill Superboy in the hope that all his powers will flow to him, but is destroyed in a surrogate battle of Superboy robots.; Kral of Titan comes to earth to learn Superboy's weakness so Titan can exploit it and invade, but he becomes sympathetic to the kindness of earthlings and aborts his mission.; A descendant of Lana Lang, Lorac-K7, comes from the future to steal cobalt in order to make a bomb. Superboy then discovers her secret identity and returns her to her own time.; Zall-Dix comes to Earth to exchange minds with Superboy but is thwarted at the last minute by Jonathan Kent.; The Kryptonite Kid and his dog blackmail Superboy and Krypto into leaving earth by turning objects into Kryptonite. Superboy and Krypto do not leave, and as they are dying at the hands of the Kryptonite Kid, Mxyzptlk sends the villains to the 5th dimension, saving Superboy and Krypto.
