Ellie and Mr. Morton watch gloomily as the huge "Barbarian" players dominate the Excalibur team. But inspired by the unexpected and supportive presence of his parents, quarterback Will begins to behave as Arthur, leading his team to a narrow turnaround victory even as the Hunter's Moon rises.; By student election, Ellie is named homecoming queen. Marco tries to steal the tiara, but Will pummels him and orders him to keep away from Ellie. As the Hunter's Moon nears its zenith, Ellie pleads with Will to believe in himself.; Ellie assures Mr. Morton that that evening's football game will be pivotal for their hopes concerning Will. Morgan tries to poison Ellie's reputation at school, but Will squelches her conclusively.; High school football star Will may be the reincarnation of King Arthur, while others of Arthur's circle may be reincarnated in Will's circle. Certainly Ellie loves and protects him, while Marco and Morgan hate and threaten them both. But Mr. M. insists that Will must embrace his Arthur identity or civilization will be destroyed. And he must do so within hours, as the Hunter's Moon rises (which is also the night of the homecoming dance).; Morgan torments Ellie, who afterward is not certain whether the experience was real or a dream. Will assures Ellie that he will protect her.; Marco and Morgan try to wreak havoc by cutting the lights and setting off the fire sprinklers, leading to their arrest. Since Will finally believes in himself, all will be well. Much work lies ahead, but Mr. Morton accepts Lance's insistence that they should leave all that for the morning, and let everyone enjoy the night.
