Betty comes up with an idea to fool the thieves.; Archie creates a gag gift for Professor Flutesnoot: a hollowed book filled with lead pellets for "heavy reading". But when Mr. Lodge can't pick up the book, he thinks his diet has made him weak.; Betty's heavily anticipated summer vacation from school proves to be more stressful than school.; Betty's new waitress job depends on pleasing difficult customer Veronica.; A huge new shopping mall has opened in Centerville. It is causing Mr. Lodge problems because the new mall is taking business away from the Riverdale Mall, where he is on the board of directors.; Archie and Betty decide to go into the jelly-making business. Archie, of course, fouls things up.; Veronica tries to impress a famous model, but without success.; Archie gets himself in trouble with Betty when he finds an old hula hoop.; Veronica tries to beat Betty at exercising.; Livid that Betty is wearing the same style of dress to school that she is, Veronica manages to tear the dress. Undaunted, Betty mends the hem in the sewing room and actually manages to outdo Veronica.; The Riverdale students and staff dress up as famous American symbols and historic figures.; At the invitation of a friend, Veronica takes Betty on a tour of Poshly High, where the children of Riverdale's elite go to school.; Veronica feels bored because she has everything she wants and life holds no challenge. Betty proposes Archie give her a challenge by going steady with Betty.; Mr. Lodge wants Veronica to join Betty's exercise class so he can fire Veronica's expensive personal trainer.; Veronica refuses to accept flowers from Archie because she thinks he's trying to apologize for something.; Archie goes with Betty to the health club, but Betty's workout leaves Archie too tired to go out with her on a date that night.; Veronica cons her friends to help her manicure the Lodge Estate lawn, but she comes to regret it when Archie and Jughead get hold of the lawn tractors.; Betty and Veronica secretly compete to see which will get to be Archie's tennis partner.; The disco where the Archies were going to perform burns down. They meet old friends, Claude and Raul, and they all perform in the parking lot of the Riverdale Mall, bringing in a crowd that convinces Mr. Lodge that he has to change his business strategy to attract younger shoppers.; Smithers tells Mr. Lodge he is quitting because of Archie's antics. Mr. Lodge tries to get him to stay, but after reviewing the problems Archie has caused him decides to leave with Smithers.; Veronica walks over to Betty's house in torn clothing in order to show her empathy with the poor folks of Riverdale.; Mr. Lodge has a fit over Veronica's latest clothing bill.; Jughead helps Betty shop for groceries.; Veronica thinks Betty is not good enough for her bowling team.
