Seeking out a family his mother worked for in hopes of reclaiming a memento, Eisuke and Conan discover that a member of the family was murdered one year ago and the murderer may strike again.; Conan and Richard begin to investigate the year old murder, but before they can finish a second body turns up.; While the police and Richard exchange theories on whether the current death is murder or suicide, Conan begins to link this death with the previous one.; Using Richard as his surrogate, Conan solves both murders.; While at a television station to attend a taping of "Samurai Kid", Conan and the kids hear of an entertainment agent found dead. As the case unfolds, Conan begins to suspect a costumed metal rocker of the crime.; While the police investigate, Conan begins to unravel the rock star's alibi.; Using Dr. Agasa as his surrogate, Conan implicates the rock star.; Richard goes to elaborate lengths to avoid Conan and the kids for one day.; When Eisuke comes up missing, Conan fears he has run afoul of the Black Syndicate while searching for his sister.; While Conan looks for Eisuke, the FBI contemplate moving Rena Mitsunashi to avoid her being discovered by either the Black Organization or the CIA.; Conan tries to determine which of three recently admitted hospital patients may be a plant looking for Rena Mitsunashi.
