Harley becomes interested in a serial arsonist who always leave a statuette of a red horse at each blaze.; Realizing that the real arsonist left incriminating evidence behind in the fire, the police set up a trap for him with the aid of Conan and Harley.; While camping, Conan, Dr. Agasa and the kids run into and befriend four college students in a camper. Later one of the college students turns up dead.; Using Dr. Agasa as his surrogate, Conan implicates the murderer.; A famous child star hires Richard to trace his birth mother. On the trail of her, Conan and the Moores run into a dead body, possibly killed by the woman they're searching for.; Using Richard as a surrogate, Conan implicates the murderer. Later he confides to Rachel who the child actor's mother is.; Since the victim of the fire had recently engaged Richard to solve a case, Harley suspects murder with the arson as a cover.; Just when Harley and Conan have identified the serial arsonist, he turns himself in. But Conan recognizes the similarities between the latest fire and a Hercule Poirot story and realizes it was committed by someone else.; Through a series of deductions, Harley and Conan show that the man who confessed was manipulated into believing he was the serial arsonist.; The assumption the victim died in a bike accident falls away after some close scrutiny from Conan and Inspector Meguire. Later Conan solves how the murder was committed, but still doesn't know who did it.; While the police and Richard search the female employees of the inn for a mole, Conan begins assembling clues that point to someone other than the woman they're looking for.
