Realizing that becoming the heroic protector of Las Vegas would require him to report for work every day and hold regular business hours (read: having a "real" job), Deadpool gives up his dream of being Wildcard and quits. 'Pool is attacked by Ghost Rider who has decided that it is high time the merc with a mouth be held accountable for his countless crimes. Rather than showing him the gravity of his sins, however, GR's penance stare makes DP relive some of the nastier portions of his origin.
