This Official Transformers Collectors' Club Edition was originally planned for issue #2 and was fully printed an sitting in a warehouse for distribution. Per an August 31, 2023 interview of Sam Wells (former Devils Due Assistant Publisher) Hasbro cancelled the distribution because of internal political reasons relating to the Kore #4 back cover advertisement. Per Wells, the cancelled copies sat in a warehouse "for a long time" until Josh Blaylock (Founder and then President of Devils Due Publishing) and Wells were able to negotiate a quiet release of the books - some went to comps within Devils Due and others went to Hasbro and out through other channels. This book is considered one of the harder to find GI Joe related comics. The same cover art was later used on issue #3 of the series as a convention variant edition.
