While Ann helps hold off the Dar-fungs (attacking at N'gola instigation), Kaänga exposes the witchdoctor as a fraud.; Ugago is accused of leading white looters to the Zagounas' temple. Camilla discovers it was done by placing a radio tracker on Ugago and convinces the tribe. The looters are captured; Sirdah tricks the Tuareks into believing that Wambi has desecrated their idol. When Tawn and Ogg go to investigate, they are captured. Wambi frees them and tricks Sirdah into battle with the warriors.; Through the use of a mind-control gas, Tabu is tricked into getting a pair of animal thieves safe passage into the Akoonas' kraal. He recovers in time to prevent the theft of the Akoonas' animals and to capture the thieves.; Terry assumes the guise of the recently deceased Desert Panther, a staunch opponent of slavers in the area.
