Kaänga and Ann visit the village of Tonga, where their friend Bonako is to celebrate his chieftanship by use of a ritual bow. The witch doctor, D'Hama, spoils the ceremony by poisoning the bowstring and causing an arrow to be shot from hiding, killing Bonako. Kaänga exposes the trick and D'Hama is killed by the tribe.; Oil woman Sandra's partner, Thompson, attempts to prevent the filing of a joint deed to their oil claim in order to have it all for himself. Camilla exposes his plotting and Thompson is killed in an oil fire.; Raiders take the jungle fever drugs that Terry had promised to the natives at N'gwando. He and the lancers, joined by the commissioner's daughter, steam upriver and take back the drugs.; When lightning starts a forest fire that traps many of the animals of his kingdom, Simba instructs the elephants in the building of a dam, in imitation of some natives he had seen earlier. The dam diverts the river, quenching the fire.; When a deer is accidentally killed through the discharge of a discarded rifle that he stumbles over, the animals all believe that Wambi has reverted to man's ways. It is only through the animals overhearing Mogawa describe what happened that Wambi is exonerated.; Ivory hunters murder any natives who spy them stealing fossil ivory from a volcano-destroyed village. Tabu arrives and allows the criminals to be gored and stomped by draft oxen.
