While visiting a big game hunter in his home and listening to stories of the thrill of the hunt, Brian and Pinky witness a bear trophy suddenly springing to life, which then puts on hunting attire, grabs a rifle, and heads out the door! When Mr. Scarlet and Pinky try to follow it, the bear turns on them...and they become the hunted!; Traveling to Belgrade, Yugoslavia, on his first assignment, in the disguise of an American reporter, Agent 99 saves a young girl from the Nazis, and tells her that he is there in Yugoslavia to protect her from Gestapo agents.; A mysterious train accident on the outskirts of Coronaville interests the Music Master, especially because farm animals found near the scene were either dead or deaf! He discovers the Nazis are using a secret weapon, called the Sound-o-Graff, to accomplish this.; The Professor is indulging in a vicious blackmail racket upon four big business men he has tricked into a phony trust that has led several of them to commit suicide rather than pay up. When a Herman Bates commits suicide, the Green Mask looks into the matter and ferrets out the rats responsible.; Wade Ferris sends for Pat Dempsey because he is concerned that his business is about to be wrecked because of the coal shortage, and that a plot is afoot to do just that! When Pat appears as a new miner wanting work, he hears about the ghosts of Indians in the mine, but later discovers that the mine may be full of diamonds.; John and Mary witness a Nazi U-Boat sink a ship, but finds the whole scenario fishy, and feels that the sub got its information about the sunken ship from someone unknown. The pair head to the circus and run across a person claiming to be able to reveal the secrets of the future...and Doyle thinks he has found that person supplying the Nazis with information.; After assisting the good King Victor with his broken leg, a young smithy is given a ring by the King...and he has the choice of remaining in England, studying medicine and helping poor villagers in their sufferings, or boarding a ship for distant lands. While residing in an inn's stables, he over-hears Sir Mordant and his men, who plan to kidnap King Victor. He is found out and is thrown to his death, but survives and heads out to warn the King of the plot. Saving the King from Mordant, the smithy is rewarded by the King to become the Black Knight.; When the Undertaker and Tom Thumb inadvertently help each other steal Egyptian treasure, they decide that whoever could kill the Doll Man could keep the jewels!; Mary heads out for the city orphanage to help open the shoe drive that will secure many shoes for the needy children inside. Unfortunately, when the Mayor claims to have seen leprechauns, the citizens of the city scoff at him and want him to resign...all of which threatens the shoe drive at which the Mayor is supposed to speak.; An enemy U-Boat surfaces at night along the Atlantic Coast and begins to terrorize a seacoast town, threatening the local inhabitants, telling them not to resist, else ten of them will be hung for each German soldier killed. Merlin decides to intervene in his own way!; The new Nazi-backed leader of the French government is challenged by the Unknown, and promptly arrests a hundred of the French people in order to put them to death. The Unknown breaks into the prison complex and frees the Frenchmen, and attends to the Nazi swine as well.
