Meanwhile, in the present, Bishop organises a bogus emergency to help lift Restin out of a funk, and sends him back to the Wild West to solve the mystery of the disappearance of inept train-robber Al Jennings. Jennings is not what he seems, and guns Restin down.; The Nether-Warlord saves Voltar from the thorns, but only so they can do combat. A demon serpent prevents this by crushing the Warlord. Voltar destroys the serpent and then hears about the plague destined for mankind from the Warlord. Voltar leaves the Warlord to the attention of the deceased serpent's mate.
