Boston Globe reporter Benson sees a connection with amazing thefts of metal and begins an investigation. Elsewhere, the great Raymond tells the JSA that he went to an exhibit at Gotham Island to expose so-called men of gold as frauds, but discovered they WERE made of gold. The Gold Men followed him, knocked him out, put him in a crate and dumped him in the river. Having escaped, he takes the JSA to the exhibit, where they confront the Gold Men, and battle them unsuccessfully. The Gold Men then board the Caterpillar ride, which spins dizzly, and when it stops, the Gold Men are gone!; Having jumped on the Caterpillar ride, the JSA suddenly find themselves in a dimension of gold, meeting with a scientist, who informs them that the Men of Gold have stolen iron from Gotham City and brought it to Xenca to power giant robots, which will end 1000 years of peace, thanks to arrogant Aurikon. Hawkman, Dr. Mid-Nite and Atom witness a robot come back to life in a bay, they battle it and its occupants, but are captured. Black Canary and Wonder Women battle the Gold Men at Xenca's National Museum who have brought a robot back to life, but are soon overcome and taken away.; At Myrla's estate, GL and Flash battle another of the Golden Robots and defeats it, but are overcome by the steam from a lake of molten gold. Myrla is captured and taken to the museum where the JSA are on display in a glass case in suspended animation. But Aurikon also has Raymond as prisoner, in an inescapable trap, from which he eventually frees himself, then busts the glass case holding the JSA. The JSA then makes short work of the robots, rounds up Aurikon and the Gold Men, jails them, and then re-creates their travel on the Caterpillar ride back to Civic City.
