Sakhu prays and sings to the god Pandurang daily. She desires to make a pilgrimage to Pandharpur but her husband and in-laws tie her up starve her. Pandurang takes her place so she can complete the pilgrimage. Once it is complete she dies and is cremated. Rukmini, Pandurang's consort, brings her back to life so that Pandurang can return home. Chastened, her husband and in-laws become staunch devotees of Pandurang.; Pundalik repents his wastrel ways and devotes himself to his parents and the worship of Krishna.
