The gang is mad at Miss Grundy for being too strict. Jughead overhears the school superintendent tell Mr. Weatherbee that unless her class does well on the next day's test, Miss Grundy will be fired for not being effective. The gang thinks all they have to do is not study for the test and they will be rid of Miss Grundy. That night, all have second thoughts and end up at Jughead's house for a night of studying.; Betty and Veronica use Reggie as a guinea pig in their efforts to find smear-proof lipstick. When Betty tries to extend the experiment to Archie, Veronica objects.; Mr. Weatherbee rigs a microphone under the bench where students sit during lunch hour. He hears Archie and Jughead talk about possibly skipping school to go ice-skating the next day. Mr. Weatherbee decides to go to the pond at dawn to catch the pair playing hooky, but nothing goes according to his plan.; Someone sees Archie kiss a girl (not Veronica) at a dance, but Archie doesn't know who it is. When Reggie tells him to guess what he saw at the dance last night, Archie panics and does everything Reggie tells him to do. Archie decides it's better to confess to Veronica than to take Reggie's abuse, but after he does, he finds out that Reggie didn't know anything about the stolen kiss.; When Archie's father reads of a gang crime in the paper, Archie reassures him that there's only a few juvenile delinquents and they can be spotted by how they dress.; Betty tells Archie his car is a mess. He buys some car polishing liquid, but has so much trouble getting the can open that he's too tired to polish the car.; Archie, Jughead and Mr. Weatherbee go bird-watching. When they disagree on identifying a bird, Mr. Weatherbee offers to bet a dollar he's right, but the bird snatches the bill from his hand to use for its nest.; Archie appears to be painting a mustache on a portrait of Jughead, sending Mr. Weatherbee into gales of laughter.; Sis can't open her mouth and Katy takes her to the dentist to see what's the matter.; Archie and Jughead exchange philosophies about work.
