After reading the book "Mind Over Matter," Archie convinces himself that he can beat up Reggie (and proceeds to demonstrate on poor Jughead). However, when he confronts Reggie with his positive outlook, he finds that Reggie hasn't read the book.; While baby-sitting for Mr. and Mrs. Smedley, Archie tries to write an essay for school. A radiator keeps making noise, but when Archie goes to get a screw to fix it, he gets his hand stuck in a jar, leading to a series of mishaps.; When Archie gives a smart-aleck answer to Miss Grundy in class, she says she will phone his father that night. Reggie comes up with a plan to get Archie's parents out of the house. When Miss Grundy calls, Reggie and Jughead disguise their voices to make her think she has a wrong number. When it's Archie's turn, Miss Grundy lets him know nobody has fooled her.; To keep Archie and Reggie from fighting to see who gets to take Veronica to a Jimmy Clax dance, Mr. Lodge offers to officiate a trout fishing contest between the two.; Archie is embarrassed when his father tells stories of his youth when his friends are over. He complains to his mother and his father overhears and has his feelings hurt. He goes to his lodge. Archie's friends come over, but Archie is upset. His friends tell him they liked listening to his father's stories, and a surprised Archie rushes to the phone and calls his father at the lodge, asking him to come home.; When an old lady criticizes Archie for putting worms on a hook while fishing, Archie shows her that his bait is a plastic worm.; When Pat drops a box of doughnuts and they all roll away, he returns to the baker and asks if he has any square ones.; Pat decides to use an axe to chop down a huge tree that is in the way of their ball field.; Betty is all excited to hear that Jughead saved Reggie when he fell in the lake.; Veronica tries on many pairs of shoes, only to leave the shoe store without buying once it stops raining.
