Archie takes Jughead to the Lodge's bungalow, where Mr. Lodge takes Jughead out so he can row the boat while Mr. Lodge fishes. Through Jughead's bungling, Mr. Lodge gets credit for catching a swordfish with a boat rather than fishing gear.; To avoid problems with the law, Jughead throws ashes on the slippery sidewalk, but he accidentally throws them on a police officer who had just slipped. Jughead and his Uncle Herman put an awning over the sidewalk to prevent snow falling on it, but it splits and drops snow on the same police officer. Their last attempt is to run hot water over it to melt the ice, but that just makes it slippery again as the police officer runs over it.; Jughead practices to be a gangster in a play, complete with a bag of play money as a prop. Mr. Weatherbee thinks it's real and calls the police who point out that the money and the guns are all fake. Jughead and Archie read the headline the next day to Mr. Weatherbee about the police protecting the principal from squirt-guns.; Miss Grundy has Jughead's eyes checked because he keeps them nearly closed all the time and she can't tell when he falls asleep. He comes back with some glasses he said the doctor would fix the problem. The glasses have wide-open eyes painted on them and Jughead still falls asleep in class.; Archie sends Jughead to pick up Betty. Betty gets Jughead's opinions on several hair styles and dress choices before leaving with him to go to the beauty parlor. She says she can't go looking like she needs to go to the beauty parlor.
