Hope and Cable share a cozy meal of roasted rat when Hope tells her protector that she believes she is ready to return to the present and join the X-Men. They search the crashed Acanti ship looking for Bishop but find him gone. Bishop gets the drop on Cable and cuts his throat and then prepares to fulfill his mission to kill Hope.; Hope is confronted by Bishop who tries his best to kill her but her mutant powers manifest and she knocks him out. Cable, recovering from his wound, takes components of Bishop's time machine to repair their own. Once again able to leap back in time, Cable and Hope travel all the way back to 1614, little knowing that Bishop is somehow pulled along with them.; Cable and Hope are rocketing towards earth in life pods and, even in the sleep of stasis, Cable fights off Bishop who tries to swallow the pods with his giant Acanti ship. Cable, Hope and Bishop crash land on earth in the ruins of New York.
