Wilma is engaged with her aerialist partner Anton. But Wilma is shaken when he becomes enraged with jealousy and accuses her of flirting with Ernie, a young man who just joined the circus. Eventually, Anton and Wilma discover that Ernie is also an aerialist and he has paid a girl to pretend to be Wilma with him in the shadows of the tents. Ernie had hoped Anton would be watching to provoke his jealous behavior since Ernie wanted to take Anton's place in the show.; Laura is engaged to actor Guy Talbot, but feels his kiss on camera with actress Brigit LaFrance is more than acting. Guy professes that Brigit doesn't really care for him, but Brigit continues to irritate Laura with her insinuations. When Laura thinks that Guy is with Brigit in her apartment, she decides to go there to tell her off. However, Brigit is with her own husband, Gaston. Laura learns that Brigit had told Guy about her husband and two kids before the movie started. Guy hopes that Laura has learned her lesson.; Rita is serving as a teacher in Appalachia on a volunteer basis. When she gives advice to young Sally Ann, her ignorance of the girl's poverty starts her off on the wrong foot with the girl's widower father, Ray Whitley. Rita has difficultly making friends in the hills, but her perseverance wins over Sally Ann and Ray. When Ray's new fruit strains enable him to double his farming income, he proposes to Rita.
