Richard is set to do a magazine interview with a famous detective fiction author. Later the author turns up dead of an apparent suicide. Meanwhile the police precinct is abuzz with rumors when Det. Sato shows up with a ring on her third finger.; While Takagi and Sato investigate the scene, Rachel wonders about Sato's ring.; By feeding clues to the police, Conan unmasks the murderer. Later, Sato confesses about the ring.; Forced to take refuge in an isolated inn when Dr. Agasa's car has a flat, Conan and the Junior Detective League encounter a mystery when one of the other guests is slashed.; Conan and the police can't solve the murder until they find the murder weapon, and they can't find the murder weapon.; When Conan figures out where the murder weapon was stashed, he figures out who the killer is.; Conan's investigation into Eisuke Hondo's background leads him to a toy designer who has a photo of Eisuke and his father. But when they visit the designer, they find the photo has been destroyed.; Conan tries to solve the mystery of who stole the photos.; Through deductive reasoning, Conan tracks down the photo thief.; While visiting a friend's home, Conan, along with Rachel, Serena and Eisuke, find the friend's mother hurrying to the bank for a mysterious reason.; Conan realizes the old woman is being victimized by a bank transfer scan and sets up a trap for the con artist.
