Using Vivian as his surrogate, Conan solves the case. Later Eva and Vivian confront Richard to find out just who won the disputed beauty pageant from high school.; Vivian takes Conan and the Junior Detective League to a private screening of the latest Samurai Kid film. But before the screening can take place, one of the lab supervisors turns up dead.; With Dr. Agasa's help, Conan sets a trap to flush out the murderer. Later Anita and Conan work to lose their surveillance.; Conan's search for who has them under surveillance leads him, Anita and Dr. Agasa to a hotel hosting a convention for Porsche enthusiasts, a suspicious encounter with Jodie Santemillion and a murder in the hotel parking garage.; Using Serena as his surrogate, Conan solves the murder. But Dr. Agasa's emergency trip to the hospital with Anita reveals her identity and location to Jodie, to Shuichi and to Sharon Vineyard.; Dr. Agasa discovers a self-published book by Anita's mother and thinks it may lead to information about what she was working on and why the Black Organization wants it. A trip to the book's graphic designer reveals that Anita's sister visited him recently. Then the man dies suddenly in front of them.; Jimmy's mother, Vivian Kudo, shows up to solve the case, as her husband Booker was hired to do the job and he sent her in his stead. That puts her in competition with Eva and brings up old memories of the rivalry they had twenty years prior in a high school beauty pageant.; When the owner of the manor turns up shot to death, Eva and Vivian team up with the police to try to solve it, while Conan investigates on his own. But it takes a call from Booker to set them all straight.; While Conan tries to figure out who the murderer is, Anita discovers that she and the others are under surveillance.; While Conan has to figure out both who did the crime and how to explain his deductions in front of the police, Rachel and Jodie Santemillion, Dr. Agasa has to figure out how to spirit a feverish Anita out of a police cordon and past the man following them.; While the police search for the poison that killed the studio head, Conan and Anita search for what Anita's sister hid in the studio bathroom.
