By feeding hints to the Junior Detective League to give to Inspector Meguire, Conan is able to implicate the murderer.; While talking to Conan on the phone, Harley relates a story of his meeting a fellow detective, one he claims is smarter than either of them.; Conan and the Moores run into Takagi and Sato, who have accidentally been fixed up on a blind date with some of the other members of the police force. The evening comes crashing to a halt, though, when the young cousin of one of the participants is apparently abducted.; When the cousin is discovered to have a rare Samurai Kid trading card in his possession, the suspects are narrowed down to a family friend and two neighbors who collect rare items. But Conan has other suspicions.; When the abducted boy shows up unharmed, Conan begins to suspect it was a ruse to cover the real crime.; Conan drops enough hints to the police that Takagi is able to track down the kidnapper.; A freelance writer seeks out the Junior Detective League through their homeroom teacher to do a feature story on them. But when they show up for the appointment, they find the writer murdered.; Using the victim's answering machine and some hints dropped by Conan, the police narrow the time of death to three minutes that morning. But his deductions arouse the suspicions of Miss Kobayashi and his kid act arouses the suspicions of the Junior Detective League.; In Harley's flashback, he tries to solve the murder of a film star killed on a ski lift with no possible killer except a legendary snow spirit who kills handsome men for her own. Unknown to Harley, Jimmy was also on the scene with Rachel and he was working the case independently.; Working independently, Jimmy, Harley and Rikuto work their way to the truth. But Booker Kudo has already solved the mystery.; Each receiving clues passed on by their fathers, Jimmy and Harley simultaneously reach the solution to the mystery.
