Jungle Jim finds the wreckage of a light plane in the jungle shortly after it goes down. The pilot is the Rajah of Bruntpur and he invites Jungle Jim to visit his palace. A week later, Jim and Kolu go to the Rajah's palace where the Rajah explains that once a year the Ghost of Kuran Das visits the Rajah's sealed vault and takes part of the treasure held there. After the "ghost" strikes the first night Jim is at the palace, Jim stays inside the vault the next night and is rewarded by seeing the "ghost" in action.; While exploring the jungle south of the Nepalese Border, Jungle Jim and Kolu witness the sacrifice of a goat from a bridge to a "mugger" (giant crocodile) in the river below. The bridge breaks during the ceremony and Jungle Jim shoots at the crocodile and rescues one of the girls from drowning. Jim is taken into custody by the Rajah for attacking the sacred crocodile. Kolu comes the Rajah's city to rescue Jim but is also captured. Later the girl who Jim rescued comes to their cell and shows them a passage to the outside.; Ranee and her cub fight off a crippled man-eating tiger that wants their kill, then the pair elude a tiger hunt by the local villagers. The man-eater flees an ambush, but tries to escape to same ledge of the ravine that holds Ranee and her cub. Ranee knocks him off, to be trampled by the stampeding herd of water buffalo.
