Mr. Hanford disappeared years ago and his house has been empty since. While collecting scrap, the Little Scouts are given some picture frames and a painting from the Hanford House. They find tiny writing hidden in the hair of the woman in the painting which leads them on a treasure hunt inside the supposed haunted house.; Clifton Courtney IV, son of very rich man, comes to the Scouts' camp on Farmer Brown's farm, accompanied by his valet Jarvis and all the comforts of home.; Scoutmaster Johnson shows up in a beat-up old car to take the Scouts to Eagle Lake.
