Pat throws herself into her work as an Army nurse to take her mind off Bill's deployment in the war. WHen she receives word that Bill is missing in action, she refuses to believe that he's dead and waits patiently until they are eventually reunited.; Sue is pursued by Tony, but she realizes that she doesn't love him. Eventually she marries someone else, but always thinks fondly of Tony.; Evie tries to change her ways when Bruce takes advantage of her, but she learns that pride isn't always a good thing.
