Unable to defeat Gozu and Mezu, Inuyasha instead sunders the chains holding the gateway closed.; Hakudoshi allows Inuyasha to attempt to pass through the gateway into the land of the dead, figuring that after Inuyasha springs the traps set for anyone attempting to pass it will be smooth sailing for him.; Anyone living who attempts to pass through the gateway turns to stone, a lesson that nearly costs Kagura her life.; Naraku lends Princess Abi a weapon to use on her blood raids on the local villages in case she runs into Inuyasha and his group.; Princess Abi begins to suspect she's being used by Naraku. Kagura again begins plotting the death of both Naraku and Hakudoshi. Kanna places Akago with a Princess who has just delivered a stillborn baby.; Seeking sanctuary from Princess Abi's blood-sucking bird demons, villagers travel to the village of Priestess Hijiri. On the way, they are attacked by Hakudoshi, seeking to use their blood to create a path to the land of the dead. Meanwhile, Princess Abi attacks the sanctuary, seeking to use human blood to prolong her mother's life.; Priestess Hijiri sunders Hakudoshi's barrier, allowing Inuyasha to wound the demon before he escapes. Kagome begins to suspect that Priestess Hijiri is actually Kikyo.; Priestess Hijiri drives off Princess Abi and her demon birds single-handed.; Priestess Hijiri's trail leads to the Forbidden Mountain, where only the virtuous may reside. Kagome and the gang try to track her down. However, demons sent by Naraku are also on her trail.; Kagura manages to dispel Kikyo's Priestess Hijiri form. Kagome finds Kikyo's real form submerged in a pond trying to expel Naraku's poisonous miasma from her body.
