Kagome retrieves the enchanted bow and returns to the real world. But before she can use it, Naraku abducts Kikyo and the others.; Naraku attempts to absorb Koga and his shards, unaware that Kikyo plans to exorcise him the moment he does.; Inuyasha's sudden intrusion takes everyone by surprise. He manages to split Naraku's body open, revealing the nearly completed Shikon Jewel inside.; With the Shikon Jewel suddenly vanished, Koga is in danger of being absorbed.; Realizing that Naraku has hidden the jewel inside of Kikyo, Kagome combines her spiritual energy with Kikyo's to attempt to purify the jewel.; Naraku takes Koga's shards. Kikyo dies failing to cleanse the Shikon Jewel, willing the mission to guard Kohaku and the last shard to Kagome.; In mourning the passing of Kikyo, Inuyasha reflects on their time together fifty years before and their aspirations of what they would use the power of the Shikon Jewel to achieve.; Koga tries to cheer Inuyasha up, in his own way. Sesshomaru is visited by his mother, who takes a dim view of his work so far.; To test his mastery of the Meido Zangetsuha attack, Sesshomaru's mother casts Rin and Kohaku into the underworld.; Sesshomaru rescues Rin and Kohaku from the Meido Hound, but each one faces death in the underworld if he doesn't manage to extract them from it.
