The Shikon Jewel gives birth to a looming demonic aspect known as Magatsuhi. The aspect immediately confronts Sesshomaru and his band, seeking the shard keeping Kohaku alive.; Naraku gives Kagome a choice: Condemn Hitomiko's soul to an eternity of torment or die in her place.; Hitomiko tries to convey to Kagome the real target for her arrow.; Kagome learns from Hitomiko that something is blocking her full spiritual power.; Kagome is faced with the dual task of studying for high school entrance exams and deciphering a legend about how to dispel the Shikon Jewel forever.; Sesshomaru is hard-pressed to protect Kohaku from Magatsuhi. And when Kagome and Inuyasha enter the battle, Magatsuhi renders Kagome comatose with a single look.; Assuming his full demon dog form, Sesshomaru rips Magatsuhi in half. But it doesn't stop him.; Inuyasha and Sesshomaru battle sentient pieces of Magatsuhi, but the more they rend him, the more adversaries there are.; Sesshomaru attacks Magatsuhi with the healing Tenseiga and is seemingly swallowed up.; Sesshomaru bursts forth from Magatsuhi's coils with a new blade, and a new left arm to wield it with.
