Archie, Betty, and Veronica land on the planet Altera to find out who snatched Jughead while spacewalking. They notice that while Altera is more advanced technologically than Earth, all their decor is from the Victorian era. It turns out that one day a 1910 Saws and Rearbuck mail-order catalog fell from the sky (apparently from a time capsule launched from Earth), and Alterans treated it as sort of a bible. And because a picture of Mr. Rearbuck on the title page of the catalog looked similar to Jughead, Altera decided he was the "great spirit" Rearbuck, and treated him like royalty.; Archie, Betty, and Jughead are exploring a cave off the beach. But the cave fills up with water when the tide comes in, forcing them deeper into the cave until they are cornered into a trapdoor in the ceiling. The door opens into the home of an old sailor who talks like a pirate. When the sailor describes how he uses the cave for smuggling, Betty reminds him that it's illegal. This prompts the sailor to get out a shotgun.; Jughead enjoys his position on Altera as the "great spirit" Rearbuck so much, that he decides to stay. But when the man from Altera gives (woman-hater) Jughead his daughter's hand in marriage, complete with a wedding dress from the catalog, he's out of there.; The sailor forces Archie, Betty, and Jughead at gunpoint up to the tower room. But they get some rope to escape, and climb out a window to a lower floor. They then hear the sailor fawning over a portrait of a lady named Emmaline. After finding a dress in a closet that looks like the one in the picture, they dress Jughead in drag to distract the sailor. Sure enough, the sailor thinks Emmaline has returned! This allows the others to dispose of the shotgun and call the cops. But the police tell them that the sailor is harmless and only "smuggles" stuff like groceries through the cave.; Li'l Jinx is dressed like a cowgirl while Gigi is in an astronaut costume. When they see each other at a sidewalk corner, they immediately disappear behind a fence and emerge with swapped costumes.
