Pat has been dating Eddie but he just does not have the drive or ambition that she wants in a man. She meets ambitious Bob Maddox and they begin to date. After two weeks he tells her that he has something important to tell her on their date tonight. She run's into Eddie and he tells her the same thing but she can't see him because of her date with Bob. At Lookout-Point, Bob tells her he has the new sales promotion wrapped up and she is the kind of girl who understands that he can't marry right now due to his career. Mr. Conway, the boss, tells Pat that Bob quit and Eddie was promoted.; After graduating college Nancy Thomas moves back to her hometown only to find most of her friends married or moved away. She meets an old acquaintance, Jerry, and they begin seeing each other, mainly at Nancy's house. Jerry brings along a group of friends and Nancy's house becomes party headquarters. At Peg's surprise birthday party she meets Peg's brother Ted and they hit it off. Jerry tells Charlie to lock Ted in the basement but Nancy overhears and puts a stop to it and tells Jerry whatever they had is over. The next day she sees Ted who has a black eye and they date and end up in love.; While dating Jim, Rita hears sobs coming from the bushes. The sobs are coming from her cousin Edna who has just been dumped by womanizer Jay Campbell. Rita plans on exacting revenge for Edna by dating Jay and dumping him. Madge introduces Rita to Jay at a party and they start dating. After several weeks Rita feels the time is right to dump Jay but before she can Jay lays a big fat kiss on her and smiles. She realizes that Jay has conquered her and she is in love with him and dashes off in tears. Jay comes to her and Rita confesses. He tells her he didn't love any of the others, only her.; Debbie is the breadwinner of her family since her Dad dies. She has just enough money to pay bills and put money into Dan's college fund. She has no money for nice clothes. She meets Reid and they fall in love. He asks her to come give her opinion about a dress and she finds out he is a dress designer. He asks her to go to the designer's ball and she lies, since she has no nice clothes, and says her mother is ill. She sees Reid at a jewelry store buying a ring. He calls and finds out her mother is fine. He confronts Debbie and she tells him she has no nice clothes. He proposes anyway.
