When her bus breaks down, Gloria accepts a ride from cynical drifter Joe. Although she’s engaged to Hal, Joe and Gloria begin to see each other. When Gloria’s house is robbed, Joe is suspected, but the real culprit is revealed to be Hal, who stole to pay his gambling debts. Gloria and Joe are reunited.; Factory worker Rose has a crush on new foreman Ed and asks him on a date. He decides to fight anyway, and doesn’t tell Teddy about his heart because she says “I don’t like has-beens.” Just before the bout, Larry’s manager tells Teddy the truth. Teddy tells Larry that she loves him for himself and doesn’t want him to fight any more.
