Since Sad Sack wants to have a blast, Sarge assigns him to drive the ammunition truck, not knowing that its steering needs repair. Sack escapes but the truck crashes the power station, setting off a fireworks display that delights the children.; With power out because of a storm, General Rockjaw dragoons the insolent Sack as a runner. Sad Sack is repeatedly mangled en route, and mixes up messages for the colonel (on maneuvers) and the general's wife (going shopping), with disastrous results.; The army tests a new zap gun by shooting Sack out of it. Worried officers track a trail of destruction all across camp and into a garbage dump, only to learn that Sack landed safely on some mattresses long before.; Sarge overhears Sad Sack talking to his pet rat. Assuming that Sack is talking about him, Sarge has Sack court-martialed. A civilian lawyer gets him off, with the help of an appearance by the rat, then presents Sack with a whopping bill.; Warned by his horoscope that he shouldn't blow up, Sarge quickly immerses a ticking package from Sad Sack. It's a watch.; Sad Sack wants a pass, and calls on lightning to strike if he's not telling he truth about a sick aunt. When an electrician accidentally zaps him with a live wire, he tears up the pass.; Sad Sack disdains Slob's advice that smoking is bad for the health, then tosses his cigarette into an ammo dump. In traction at the hospital, he resolves to give up smoking.
