Sterling Morris calls Billy into his office and shows him newspaper headlines about Spy Smasher running wild and posing a real danger to U.S. defense sectors. Upon hearing that the former hero is at the federal penitentiary helping prisoners escape, Billy changes to Captain Marvel and travels to the prison to stop Spy Smasher. But Spy Smasher escapes, captures the good Captain, and subjects him to the Brainograph once belonging to the Mask!; Wanting to save Spy Smasher from the terrible effects of the Mask's Brainograph, Eve drives to Alan Armstrong's Virginia estate, believing him to be hiding there. He is, but Spy Smasher believes Eve to be a threat to him, so he decides to burn the house down with her in it, and it's only through the timely actions of Captain Marvel that her life is spared.; Hal and Nikko free a tribe from Arab ivory thieves.
