Polly decides that she'll got to the Prom with whoever wins the Jones Beach Hot Rod Race. Stuffy buys a fancy $10,000 race car, but Andy befriends Elwood Undershod, a teen genius who soups up Andy's car with high-octane fuel.; Andy's mother hopes that Andy has some musical talent. He tries several instruments with no success.; Andy gets a temporary job at a costume shop, which leads to an extended problem with a knight's helmet.; Andy's mother has bought some high heels, but they are a little tight. She asks Andy to wear them for a while to stretch them out. Polly comes to visit and Andy can't get the high heels off because his feet have swelled.; Elwood teaches Andy to use word association to help memorize information for a class.; Andy is upset because Dennis Martin will have his picture published in the newspaper.; Andy rents a tuxedo when he is told to wear tails to a party; but it turns out to be a costume party with people dressed as animals.
