Myoga leads Inuyasha and Kagome to the mummified remains of the priestess Midoriko, where they find a pupa gestating in the hole in her chest where the Shikon Jewel used to be. Later Inuyasha learns that the pupa is one of Kikyo's soul collectors.; Inuyasha intrudes into the battle between Hakudoshi and Kagura. Kagura reveals that Akago is inside of Moryomaru.; Learning that Hakudoshi plans to betray him, Naraku robs him of his impenetrable shield and allows Inuyasha and Miroku to destroy him.; While pursuing Kohaku, Sango encounters Moryomaru. Naraku offers to return Kagura's heart to her.; Kohaku defends Sango against Moryomaru, exposing himself to having his life-giving Shikon shard taken. Naraku returns Kagura's heart to her, then mortally wounds her and leaves her to die alone and in agony.; Inuyasha fights off Moryomaru. Sango discovers that Kohaku has regained his memories and still carries the guilt of assassinating his family.; Sesshomaru arrives to be with Kagura in her final moments.; Kikyo uses remnants of Midoriko's soul to try to repair the wound from Naraku's assassination attempt that is reopening. The act causes a resonance in the Shikon shard embedded in Kohaku and draws the boy to her.; Kikyo plans to allow Naraku to assemble the Shikon Jewel, then purify it and destroy Naraku's tainted soul forever. Inuyasha realizes this plan will condemn Kohaku to death.; Koga learns that Moryomaru has attacked and devoured a clan of snake demons. Inuyasha reveals Kikyo's plan to the others.
