Stanley, the new boy, gets Smitty demoted from his job as office boy, so he can take it.; Smitty schemes to get Stanley in trouble so he can get his old job back.; Stanley's plot to take Smitty's job is revealed when the public address system is accidentally switched on. Smitty gets his old job back and uses a $25 bonus to buy his first pair of long pants.; George, the Indian guide from the North Woods, comes to the city and gets a job as caretaker of Mr. Bailey's new home at the top of a 36-story building.; George's donkey has a baby and George takes a train back to the North Woods. Mr. Bailey and Smitty take a plane to get there first and play a practical joke on George. Later Smitty takes a canoe ride by himself and gets caught in rapids and is taken far from the camp.; Smitty is found by two Indians and is taken to their camp. Herby accidentally sells his dog Freckles to a stranger for $150.; Herby finds that his dog Freckles was sold to a rich family living in a mansion in town. The family's boy won't give up the dog.; The rich boy is willing to give Freckles back to Herby, but his governess forbids it. Freckles gets sick and the rich boy and Herby smuggle him out to go back to Herby's home.; Freckles just had a bad case of homesickness and improves immediately when he's back at Herby's house. The rich boy gives the dog back to Herby.; Mr. Bailey practices ventriloquism for his club's stunt show.; Smitty gets his friend Stanley a job at Mr. Bailey's company.
