Betty and Veronica become nurse's aides at the hospital, where one of the new patients is a comatose man known only as "Patient X." Betty notices a mysterious man with a red mustache peeking into "Patient X"'s room. When "Patient X" starts to come out of his coma, his only words are "Must protect Carezzo." Archie and the gang take it upon themselves to solve the mystery of who "Patient X" is, what he's trying to protect, and what the man with the red mustache has to do with all this.; The gang decides to get two Christmas trees this year: a large one to be decorated with traditional decorations and a small one to decorate with organic decorations. Both happen to be able to communicate with each other via thought balloons. Meanwhile, Archie decides to become a department store Santa.; When Archie fails as a mall Santa, he goes to seek advice from the Santa that works at Lacy's.; Archie argues over with his parents over his curfew.; Archie signs up for a co-ed gym class to meet some girls, only to find out that the class only does dance.; Archie pretends to be "Diamond Jim" Andrews and becomes very generous with his money.; Pat and his friends make fun of Susie's magic water wand.; Jingles gives more grief than joy to Riverdale's residents when he makes a visit.; Archie fails during his first day as a department store Santa, but has a chance to redeem himself when the Lodge family inviters some orphans to the mansion.; The gang gets together to assemble toys for the children in the hospital and the big tree is upstaged when the little tree is taken to the hospital.; The gang entertains the children in the hospital and later, the big Christmas tree is thrown out while the little one is planted for next year.; Archie's skills as a mall Santa improve rapidly and he is later shocked to learn that Lacy's hasn't hosted a Santa Claus in years.; Mr. Weatherbee takes the gang to the orphanage to put on a Christmas play for the orphans.; The gang decorates Spotty's doghouse in an attempt to win a decorating contest.; When Coach Kleats gets a concussion, it's up to Mr. Weatherbee to coach the football team.; Reggie sends Archie flowers using Betty's name in order to get Veronica jealous.; In showing off his cast, Archie does more damage to Mr. Weatherbee than he did to his foot.; Archie tries to keep the new student lounge clean.; Archie and Betty get a chance to prove their football skills to a semi-pro.; When Archie offers to make the girls a Mexican dinner, Reggie tries to upstage Archie in the kitchen.; Betty and Veronica convince Archie that he's like a tiger, a predatory beast. Midge witnesses him around Betty and Veronica and begs Big Moose to leave him alone, fearing the worst.; Archie tries to make it up to the Lodges after he ruins their Christmas decorating.; Archie accidentally uses super glue to attach his Santa beard.; Archie asks Jughead to help wrap Betty's Christmas present.; Archie and Veronica go driving.; Pat builds Fleabite a new doghouse.; Pat gets Fleabite to get off of his baseball glove.; Reggie answers the phone when Archie calls Veronica.
